BCSC was launched immediately following a community forum on re-envisioning public safety following the brutal murder of George Floyd, and so many others. Hosted by Pastor Michael McBride of The Way Christian Center and organized by a small team of diverse volunteers including Cal and Berkeley High students and alum, over 400 people attended via Zoom, Facebook and Instagram Live. A 42 page report was compiled and published within 48 hours of the forum and delivered to the Berkeley City Council. The tragedy of anti-Black violence appears in many places including in the killing of unarmed Black men, women and children by police. We call for an end to the killing and accountability for those who hide behind and abuse their badge as law enforcement. This video is a sobering compilation revealing the names and some faces of Black people killed by police in 2020.
